Our large gong mallet is expertly calibrated to strike the center, heart of the gong, bringing out its deepest, warmest bass tones and pure fundamental note. Designed with ideal weight distribution and padding, this mallet minimizes strike noise, allowing only pure, resonant sound and vibration to emerge.

Highly padded for optimal performance on single strikes, it is not indicated to be used in pair as “rollers” with gongs under 47”/120 cm diameter, while it can be used in pair on the bigger gong sizes.

Small Mallet

Grotta Sonora’s smaller gong mallet features a wooden handle and a rubber head wrapped in soft, faux-fur fabric, available in colors to complement our gong designs. Carefully crafted and calibrated for our smaller, handheld gongs, this mallet delivers with a single, gentle strike to release the gong’s fundamental note, bass, and shimmering overtones—producing a harmonious chord with just one stroke.

This versatile mallet is also ideal to be used in pair on larger gongs for “rolling” playing techniques. Its firmer head enhances higher overtones, creating a “windy” sound effect, or to add bright accents that enrich the depth of lower tones.
